I love to hand sew, and for some reason I was avoiding English paper piecing, but now I am very pleased with it. It’s super duper portable, it allows me to play with color a lot, and it’s all simple sewing and yet makes complex patterns. I was making a quilt for my own bed and was very unhappy with it, so I restarted it with hexies and now I love it and I’m happy. I love things that are labor-intensive and don’t require full designing all the time, and yet have some creative leeway as I go, so this is a good fit. I have made two large “blocks” of hexies, more than a hundred hexies in each. I have many more to go, my hexes are only about 1 1/4” and I need a full/queen sized cover for my bed (it’s queen but it’s on the floor, so it doesn’t need to hang down).
