Rounding up May

I know this month isn’t over just yet and there would be enough time for a few more lists here. ;)

I thought it would be a good idea to sum up some little successes instead as some kind of motivation for the next month.

- This month I ran regularly, 2 – 3 times every week, running 3 to 7 km every time. For me that was great and even though I dreaded each run, I always was glad that I went afterwards. Something I won’t give up next month.

- Hooping… I tried almost every evening, but maybe it’s time to admit that it’s just not for me. It’s fun, but maybe to do every once in a while, not every day…

- I did more yoga this month and want to learn a few more poses next month.

- I ate well and lost some weight again, but as it turned out, I have to do a lot better. Something I will have to work on in June.

- Biking: well, my car is still running, but I should not drive it anymore unless I really, really have to. This means biking a lot more until the new car arrives. We already started to leave the car and bike instead with the sunny weather. It’ll be a lot more in the next two months.

- For the rest I didn’t go to the gym that often anymore but compensated by running around our neighbourhood, swimming, biking and doing exercises at home. I’m fine with that and don’t mind not working out there in June.

Not too bad…

If you lost some weight,

why is this not enough? Is it because you have a specific weight loss goal?

Bodies all work differently, and maybe it will take you a little longer, but don’t get too stressed out.

It sounds like you have a great program, with jogging and yoga and riding your bike. You are likely reaping all kinds of health benefits, even if the weight loss isn’t fast.

.

Not, it's enough, really

Reading back the entry, I realised that it wasn’t written very well, because I meant that I have to start eating better. A bit more again, increase the variety to avoid deficiencies (gluten allergic and vegetarism don’t work too well together…).

Yes, the variety of exercise is great and it’s nice to feel my legs burn in differrent places when I take the bike or run.

The amount of weight that I have lost so far is perfect (10 kg this year) and I am glad about it. I also notice that my body is changing and enjoy being able to wear different clothes again. And even if the scale is not going down for a week or two, I still see a difference, which I value more than the change of a number.
I guess it’s all in between the ears, isn’t it?!

Scales

I haven’t owned a set of scales since I was a teenager. Since it requires me to exercise, when I lose fat I gain muscle and that weighs more per cubic cm. Weight can fluctuate with fluid levels also, so it’s not really an accurate measure when you’re talking about a couple of kilos.
There have been times I’ve wanted some – like when I’m flying and my case seems heavier than carry-on is allowed, or we have to weigh the dogs for medications!

.

True

That’s why I’m not paying tooo much attention to those numbers on the scale and rather keep three different pairs of pants at hand for “measurement”. ;)

Sounds like

an incredibly productive month! Good for you!

.

It sure was a productive one! Thanks!
But so was yours – very motivating to read!
On to the next month?!
;)
