I’ve come to realise that it wasn’t The Dark Tower itself that made me stall before finishing the series. It’s Stephen King. Damn, but I hate the way he writes.

Having said that, I actually did really enjoy this book. I kind of wish it hadn’t been all supernatural and unexplained and whatever, but well, it’s Stephen King. And it was way too long and padded, but then, I read the extended version. So basically, it delivered on what it promised, and it did so very, very well.

I think I’m more prepared to finish The Dark Tower, now that I’m more aware of the King-isms. I can kind of forgive them because I know they’re unavoidable. I can just sigh, say “Oh, Stephen,” and move on.
