So, after an optimistic entry several months ago, I have…$20.
There’s a hole in my pocket, and its name is “Books, Food, and Bowling” aka my three major vices. But hope is not lost! I have a 3-pronged attack to acquiring income that doesn’t tie me to the dreaded real job:
-I’ve taken up babysitting with the family I used to sit for. The pay’s terrible (usually $20 for 4-7 hours) but it’s easy and fun…If I sit for them once a week during the summer I could net as much as $120.
-In addition to preparing my brother for (and getting him through) honors Algebra II, I’m also being hired to tutor one of his friends. Last year, I had the teacher they’ll be having…let’s just say I’ll have a lot of work to do for them. I do $10/hour for tutoring, maybe 2-3 total hours a week, probably starting two or three weeks before school starts. (I’m apparently supposed to reteach both of them Algebra I before the year…lol)
-I’m throwing a massive, house-cleaning, be-all-end-all garage sale in two weeks. I have no idea how this is going to go, but I’m fairly optimistic.
Finally, I’m committing right now to put 1/3 of all money earned away, and if I top $200 I’m actually going to set up a bank account so I don’t blow it all again.
