Sell Betty Barina (read all 3 entries…)

Today I placed an ad online to sell ‘Betty Barina’.

I’ve decided to try selling her unregistered which may not be as easy as having 6mths registration on her but hey, I’ll see what happens. This way, it saves me the trouble of also having to obtain a RWC (Roadworthy Certificate) and about $400! Accordingly, I’ve taken this into account with the Sale Price to compensate for the buyer having to re-register the car.

Fingers crossed someone will buy Betty and drive off into the sunset with her!

My registration is usually about $40! It’s more expensive now because they shaft me for having custom license plates…but…

Dang.
Still less than 1/4 of what it’d cost me in OZ. Do you know how much it is to get/renew a driver’s license?

Crazy money!

WoW! Just $40 bucks for Registration – that’s so cheap!!Rego & Insurance are the most costly things about owing a car here. Just 6mths rego is $316 and the Insurance around the same, depending on your age, how many accidents you’ve had etc..

Renewing your licence is currently $50 for 1 yr and it goes up to $120 for 5yrs renewal!

Best to get on yer bike here hey! :-)

Dang,

not to make you jealous as it varies from state to state by a LOT, but in South Dakota I can renew my license (once every four years) for $20… when I started driving a few years ago it was only eight. Also, our registration is good for a year ;)

The high school German transfer kids like to get their licenses over here because according to them it’s $1000 to get a license back home… plus you can legally obtain your license in SD at 14 :)

I actually like that it’s more expensive in other countries because I think it encourages the use of public transportation (which is non-existent in SD) and exercise :)

Yep, the cost varies from state to state here too but I can’t remember a time when it was only $20! You’re so lucky. Not sure about being allowed to drive at the age of 14 ? That seems way too young to be responsible in a vehicle & others on the roads! The insurance premiums for drivers that age must be huge>??

Our rego can be purchased for 12mths too it’s just that I’ve never got enough spare cash to buy more than 6mths at a time!

Just today I looked into hiring one our Council Bicycles to ride to/from work along the river – only $60 per year! Save heaps on public transport & might be a nice way for me to get some much-needed exercise!
