Dawn Michelle x3 Here's a little song I wrote.. you might want to sing it note for note
I’ve lived in Austin for three years in August and I had the hardest time making friends after I came here. Everyone seemed to already have their own friends and didn’t really want any more? It was frustrating. I reached out to a lot of people and was turned down.
Finally, one of my former co-workers and I started going to the gym together and we found that it wasn’t really about working out, it was more about just talking and getting a bunch of stuff off of our chest. What started as going to the gym has now devolved into girls night on the couch quite often but I don’t mind a bit. :)
It’s funny because when I was TRYING to make friends I would reach out to people who seemed like me. When I finally made a true friend, she is my POLAR OPPOSITE. I think that it makes our conversations more interesting. I live with two boys and I think I have it rough dealing with the challenge of living with two 22 year old boys. She lives with three college girls and constantly reminds me that I’d much rather deal with a living room covered in Star Wars memorabilia than the drama that comes with living with a bunch of girls. I come from a small town. She is originally from a big one. In many ways, we offer each other valuable perspective.
:)
