Sober Saturday

Sober Saturday after a sober Friday. I’m really getting used to this and I’m so very, very thankful that the pull of alcohol is subsiding. Running to the liquor store doesn’t have the same “fun” sound. Sitting on the deck with a glass of wine doesn’t hold the same feelings anymore because I know I’ll pay for that glass of wine 10 times over. I feel like I’m finally through torturing myself.

Hoping for a safe, happy and SOBER Saturday for all!

Comments:

it's so hard not to drink sometimes

The allure of the first-half of the experience (the dizzy, woozy high) can make you overlook part II (hangover from hell, dehydration, headaches, depression). It looks obvious on paper and in theory, that drinking is a bad idea. But in real life, when you throw in a hard day, or a hard, productive week, and Friday night comes and you want to “go crazy,” alcohol can seem so much more tempting. Add to that movies and media and commercials that make alcohol look glamourous and surreal and without consequence, and a culture that is hypnotized by such images and friends who want to go drink . . . staying sober can become a very real challenge.

I had a sober Friday night. Glad to hear you did too. Have a sober saturday too and wake up early on Sunday to watch the sunrise and not have a hangover, and then go back to sleep because you want to, not because you can’t get out of bed. That’s my sense of reward :-)
