Good on you!

Hey!

Thanks for posting this online for me and others to see. I keep a similar list in a notebook—5 things each day to be grateful for.

Have you found that it makes you look out for positives to add to your collection? In my case, I’ve turned within a year from someone who always saw the glass half empty, to one who can find something good, even in a bad situation. (e.g. Instead of cursing myself for having to go back for something I’ve forgotten after locking the door to my flat, I am pleased that I’ve remembered it before I’ve gone too far.)

No one could accuse me of being a Pollyanna, I’m still quite cynical, but I have changed to someone who celebrates the good things each day, and so am much more content.

Best wishes,

Very true

Thanks for your nice comment, not2late!

Yes, I have noticed, too, that writing down the small pleasures seems to multiply them. ;) I see now indeed that by acknowledging them, my days seem fuller and brighter and that even when I am treating myself to a little break, that I am now able to enjoy it a bit more than before (I used to over-plan everything to make time for happy moments, but of course, they can not be planned and expectation only leads to disappointment. Just waiting for the small pleasures to come is much more reaarding in the end.).

I have always been an optimistic person and always tried to see the good in every situation, but I am seldom depressed or feel low for a few days in a row, because of these lists: as long as I can name at least one thing every day that made me happy, that day can’t have been all bad, right? ;)

And like you, I am also not constantly running around with a silly grin on my face, but every once in a while, it’s quite relaxing. :)

Wishing you many more long lists of gratefulness!
