breastfeed (read all 4 entries…)
He's put weight on this week

but I’ve got really, really tired.

It’s really exhausting breastfeeding and being available all day every day. And it’s more time-consuming than I anticipated too. I’ve been spending 10-12 hours a day on this which is longer than I expected.

At least I’m succeeding in feeding him and helping him grow (150g / 5oz weight gain in the past 4 days).

sierrak Happy to get back to work on my Goals!

Good Job!

I am glad to hear this is going better for you. Hopefully as he gets bigger, and eats less frequently, you won’t have to spend as many hours a day on this!

I breastfed my youngest one for a year….it’s a really worthwhile goal. Keep with it!

Babies

take so much energy, God love ‘em. I hope you are able to get some time to take care of yourself, too. Parenting (mothering in particular – sorry, but it’s true!) is not always given full credit for how much work it is.

I was able to nurse almost 2 years, tapering off to only nighttime nursing for the last maybe 6 – 12 months or so. I know some women who couldn’t, due to adoption, due to physiology, or due to other realities of life, and they are no less mothers (though some insensitive books and articles make it seem that way), but I agree with sierrak, it’s really worthwhile if someone is able to do it.

It's a full time job being a 24-hour dairy.

It’s also hugely rewarding. Hearty congratulations to you for tackling it with grace and spirit.
