Become a vegetarian (read all 6 entries…)
One more step.....

A friend introduced me to a book she got at the library recently. It is “The Veganist” by Kathy Freston. It promotes the advantages of a plant based diet in all aspects of one’s life. She even references the film “Forks over Knives” in the being of the book. That film was an eye opener for me.

I’m not sure I would ever adapt a vegan diet, (I like milk too much) but I have seen the evidence for a vegetarian diet and this seems a logical extension. I guess right now I consider myself a “vegetarianist”. I believe in all the benefits, I am just not quite there yet. Over time I think I will get there. I did have a plant based lunch today. Maybe lunch is a good place to start?

I liked the book so much, I purchased two copies; one for me and one for my friend so she does not have to rely on the library’s copy. (It was cheap on Amazon.)

Optionally_Mine wishes she had unlimited cheers coz she thinks you're all wonderful !!

I think ..

lunch would be a great place to start and so much easier to achieve just reliant on self as dinnertime is more family orientated .. :)

tikini tikiniland ~ where it is always summertime

Mr Tiki wants to go vegetarian

and I am resisting.

It is not that I love meat, although we do have excellent grass raised beef on the island. I am not even all that enamored of chicken but I appreciate its versatility. Although this island is full of chickens no one likes to kill and dress them so everything comes 3000 miles across the ocean. That’s reason itself to give up chicken.

sigh.

My true resistance is this: I love to try cuisines from everywhere. Both to eat and prepare. I dislike being so limited. ... and … when I have gone on a vegetarian diet for any length of time my health issues have gone into crescendo. And stayed there. I am not sure that I have given it enough time. sigh again.

Keep Trying

Sounds like you are willing Tikini, but things just get in the way. I understand that. I have the same issues.

I have discovered a lot over the past years, and I like what I am learning. I have come to believe the vegetarian way is the healthiest.

Keep reading, keep talking to people. You will find what is best for you.
