I had a cracking time tonight but as the alcohol wore off I became more self-conscious and I reduced my dancing to nil. I stood propping up the wall, feeling self conscious, unworthy and generally disgusted in myself.

I’m not doing well on this goal!

. Only way out is to keep putting yourself in the same situation till you find a way to deal with it. I dare you to invest time in doing things that will make you feel solid about yourself (public speaking, martial arts etc….). Im in the same boat too, it wont happen overnight but it will happen.

Have faith in your abilities!

some time ago I had a job that I traveled a lot. At the beginning, I use to be self-conscious about having dinner alone at a restaurant. I thought that people would see me sitting by myself in the middle of a restaurant and think: “look at that looser, all alone having dinner.”
Have you ever thought that of someone you saw having dinner alone at a nice restaurant?
I’ve never had. As a matter of fact, unless I make a special effort, I don’t even notice the people around me or care what they are doing.
If I am at a dance club, I only really notice the good and/or sexy dancers. The others are just dancing and having a good time. OK, I do notice the REALLY bad dancers too, but I envy them for being able to have fun and not care.
Yes, you can try doing things like public speaking, but ultimately it is all about being relaxed about yourself and knowing that the only one that really cares about what you are doing is yourself AND those that care about you … and if they really care, they don’t judge. Good luck.
