I did a little googling about speed reading, and from what I’ve found so far, it appears that attempts to read faster than about 300 wpm usually come at a great cost in comprehension (50%), and that you can’t get rid of subvocalization or use fewer eye fixations—or rather, you can, but then you’re not reading, and that’s why speed readers retain so little of what they read.Â

If anyone knows of any more information about this, I’d love to hear it. These are typical of what I’ve found so far.
