Ixii is ready for another year of getting stuff done!
I found this one while checking in books at my job at the public library the other day and thought it looked interesting. It’s the first non-fiction book I’ve read for this list so far.
The book details the real-life horrors endured by Flora Jessop during her childhood as a member of a Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints sect in Colorado City, as well as her harrowing escapes, struggle to adjust to the real world, and efforts to help other FLDS women and children leave the church. The book is vivid and graphic, which I think it needs to be if her story is going to be told properly. Reading it has definitely opened my eyes to issues that are going on right to this day. It’s a powerful and enthralling read, and I definitely recommend taking a look.
