Another right-wing nut job, Dan Cathy, President/Owner of Chick-Fil-A, has come out

with statements disparaging gay marriage.

Note: Above image is not the disparaging message but someone’s humorous take on Chick-Fil-A’s homophobic stance and subsequent actions to “voluntarily” recall muppet toys after the Jim Henson company said they would not be providing toys anymore to Chick-Fil-A. Jesus promoted love, tolerance, and understanding by being around those who were considered the lowlifes of society, such as adulterers, prostitutes, and tax collectors, and it was Jesus who said “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.”

There must be a lot of “Christians” here who are without sin or they somehow decide that they are Christians without following what Jesus said.

Of course, this may be exactly why Jesus said “I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” How prophetic his words are.

It shouldn’t be surprising, but Chick-Fil-A has been donating millions of dollars into anti-gay marriage organizations. And not surprisingly, other right-wing nut jobs like Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum are publicly offering support for Chick-Fil-A.

All I can say is that as late as 1967, some states had laws on the books outlawing interracial marriages. I’m sure the Bible was used as justification for those bans as well.

REST IN PEACE, SALLY RIDE

On a sad note, we lost a true American hero recently with the passing of Sally Ride, the first American woman in space and also the youngest American in space. On a sadder note, we live in a society where she had to hide her love for her partner up until her death. Rest in Peace, Sally.

On that note, it’s too bad there aren’t more “brave” people out there to support people’s rights to choose who they love.

They didn't officially legalize interracial marriage

in the last of the 50 states (Alabama) until the year 2000.

Damn

And I love Chik-Fil-A chicken!

Good thing there’s not one near me so I won’t really miss it :P

Chik-Fil-Eh

I was curious to try it. But no more. My money’s not going to help further Mr. Cathy’s agenda.

I do not think Mr. Cathy’s own prideful, arrogant attitude and audacity concerning his biblical interpretation of his family’s good fortune deserve my support.

Cephlapod is going to get back to everyone, everywhere, soon.

I see companies doing this a lot on wikipedia.

And

I think going a little deeper, this whole fiasco should really be a call for us to look closely at the ability that corporations currently have to affect the legislative process.

Yes, this particular incident concerns gay marriage, but that’s really kind of a sideshow. The owner of the company is entitled to his belief, whether the general populace agrees with it or not. However, when said company then spends millions of dollars in order to influence legislation of rights for a select group of individuals, THAT needs to be examined.

Under the current Citizens United ruling, he with the most money controls the laws, and that runs contrary to pretty much everything that the U.S. purports to stand for. We are having to actively acknowledge now that yes, this country is a plutocracy – and that doesn’t sit well with, oh, 99% of our citizens, even though we’ve been functioning as such for many generations.
