After thinking I was on the mend and going to an enjoyable picnic with a group of other parents and kids yesterday afternoon, I started descending into rapid wretchedness and had to pack everyone up and head home rather suddenly. I made it in the door and within five minutes was turned inside out, the fever came back, the aches, the shakes. Fortunately the headache didn’t return and I managed to get some tummy meds down and rest when Iris napped, but it was an unpleasant surprise.
By evening I was feeling much, much better, devoured some oatmeal and a bucket of Gatorade and went to bed early, and today I’m feeling weak but solidly better. I dearly need to get back on track, so I’ll drum up a bit of a list and do what I can, but give myself complete freedom to collapse on the couch if I run out of steam.
