But seriously

What’s for dinner tonight?

Comments:

calypte ready for something new :)

sweet and sour chicken

courtesy of an M&S offer: breaded chicken fillets with a s&s sauce, and I’ll make my own egg fried rice (with onion and green pepper) to go with. Mmm :)

(strangely, this is my version of ‘less cooking’ while I’m busy!)

Love the text joke :)

.

Bean chilli

And cheesy nachos from the oven.

Tuesday is soup-day here and the nachos definetely help to get the kids to eat their veggies. ;)

What are you going to have for dinner?

Had

Indian stuff. The kiddies only liked it so-so. Meh, it was worth a shot.

.

With papadums

It might be easier?
The spices are just something the kids have to get used to . We usually treat ourselves to Indian stuff on a busy day and warm up some pancakes for the kiddies. Keeps everybody happy. ;)

Sugar & Spice

Usually they don’t mind the spices so much but they protested at first. Later when they were busy with other stuff at the table, like making jokes and singing, we could easily feed them bits and pieces and they didn’t object anymore. I guess it was a case of “don’ wanna!” more than a matter of taste. :D

I need to remember to buy some ready-made pasta and pancakes for emergencies when they really don’t want to eat what we serve them.

Bean enchiladas.

(Got the recipe from here)

Posts like these make my mouth water, I guess it’s time to cook soon. Bon appetit everyone!

Noodle House Singaporean Black Pepper Beef and Shanghai Beef Noodles. Beef on beef, om nom nom :D

Orange chicken

and rice

julettaskey is exploring the amazing possibilities that lay dormant in my dreams

cooking a whole chicken

probably with basil and garlic spices, throwing some onion and more garlic on the inside. I have an asparagus wild mushroom tortellini salad too I think I will have with it.

I have absolutely NO idea… I really need to go grocery shopping soon… All I have is:
Frozen corn
Bacon
Eggs
Rice
Cheese
Potatoes
Oranges
Apples
Chicken and beef broth
Boxed mac & cheese, boxed rice stuff, canned raviolis, canned fruit, canned soup
Herbs, spices, garlic, and onions, too…

Wait… I could make fried rice! It would be insanely simple fried rice with just eggs and corn, but that’s okay. And it sounds yummy enough. Oooh… I could add bacon to that and make some Bacon & Egg fried rice!

JaneMarie taking more time for herself

all I had left today is...

Corn on the cobb
tomatoes
Spaghetti sauce
Red cargo rice
Lentils
Red Beans
Pork Neck Cuts
onion
Cloud Fungus
Little star noodles
and an array of peppers
Seasoning

So I made a curried pork soup…

it’s spicy but pretty good.

Tacos

And also Ash is baking me an apple pie, because “she is my pie bitch”.

I love my friends. :)

Why don't *I* have

a pie bitch???

This question is going to keep me awake tonight.

Advice from my pie bitch

” they are easy to acquire. Find a friend that bakes pies. Tell them they are your pie bitch. If they try to argue, just tell them no, you are my pie bitch.”

Which is pretty much exactly how it happened.

Jessy thanks Celtic Christian for all the cheers!

A pie bitch . . .

You are one lucky girl. I have great friends, but not one of them has offered to be my pie bitch.

Night Out with Sous Chef

at Pizzeria Libretto!
We had:
good bread dipped in balsamic vinegar and olive oil
a pyramid of buttermilk dipped calamari with a red pepper and almond coulis
arugula salad with candied walnuts, pear and piave in a sherry vinaigrette
margherita pizza
ho-made sausage pizza with chili oil and caramelised onions
grapefruit juice with prosecco and campari (me)
water and plenty of it (sous chef)

While we waited for a table, we strolled Ossington and found a little place that sold us coconut milk gelato. It was diabolical and I don’t want to talk about it.

Libretto is a hip joint.

Everyone dining there has great glasses. Black will never, ever be out of fashion. Beyond that, the food is consistent and simple and wonderful. Too bad they don’t take reservations; there are too many people grinding butts under their Toms on the sidewalk.

I wore an off-black (silk is like that) dress. I sat next to a couple of women dressed in identical black with identical African jewelry and peace signs. The couple to my right dressed in black with shades of grey (snicker). No neckties. Just great glasses and Bride of Frankenstein hair.

It was a great evening, made better by a proposition by the full moon, who whispered silky promises in my ear. I wish I had my camera.

Pizza perfection, yes.

Collectorofcats can hardly wait for the asparagus to pop up so it will be truly Spring

Hamburgers. With a slice of home grown tomatoe, potato salad. Maybe a salad.
