LL is EXCITED! Matty got his visa!!

practise my french
It's a good start... 3 years ago

Well, I have completed a year’s worth of French lessons, and didn’t do too badly… would have been better, I have to admit, if I’d not reverted to the incredibly lazy study habits that served me so poorly in both high school and university.

Have had to defer classes for this 2006… hoping to be in Europe by May this year, so won’t be around for the whole semester. And as I’m planning to be there for a couple of years, I felt I needed to spend that class-time enjoying the company of family and friends (whom I’m going to miss like crazy when I go).

At least I know that in France I’ll be able to get by with some of the basics… and more importantly, I have my pick-up line sorted… he he heh!

He heh… it’s pretty blatant… and pretty cheesy really ;-)

Desirez vous coucher avec moi?

Of course, the chances of me actually using it…

Hey Wayne, I meant to ask you...

... how’s my grammar? ;-D

Or should I have put it slightly differently? Does this make more sense? Est-ce que vous desirez vous coucher avec moi? (I’m not even going to attempt to place the accents!)

All very tongue-in-cheek, of course ;-P

That's quite funny

Mind you, you won’t need to say that if you go to France… French people have a passion for Australians. Just say something like “Bonjour, je suis Australienne” and you’ll be surrounded by hundreds of earger French men!

I went to...

... the CAE (council for adult education). It was great, because it’s an accredited course, and after doing a couple of classes you could apply for a government-funded place… saving money is always good ;-)

I’d considered Alliance Francaise (they are everywhere), because they have all sorts of interesting activities as well… but they were a little further away, so I went with the easy option travel-wise.

If you are thinking of doing this, I highly recommend it!

ay sherrie

I hope you linguistic ability helps you learn the language, languages are tough for me for some reason. I wish I could just be sent to the country and live with natives, I would pick it up in like 6 months, but with no one to have a dialogue with it becomes tough, so I recommend you find a buddy to chat les francais with, if that was my ideal lang I would be your buddy anytime, but with all the romance in that language you might get me flustered from time to time, your pick line, though I don’t comprehend it would worked on me even though I am not a french man. I hope when you do go over there it affords you some great experiences :)

Hmmmm... perhaps...

... I could speak to you in French, and you could talk to me in Italian… ;-)

Tee hee… we could have all sorts of fun with that! :-D

You’re right though… need to find someone with whom to practise. Unfortunately, a friend who was also taking classes has recently headed off overseas… so might have to wait until I catch up with her again in a couple of months.

Um...

I haven’t practised for a little while. But a friend has just started a two-month job as an au pair in France, so she’ll send me some emails in French to help us practise.

Hmmm… would be good to learn some Italian though…
