Today I am grateful for:
1. A half day of work today
2. Getting my bike back from the bike shop all tuned up and just like new.
3. A nice 22 mile ride with my daughter-in-law in the afternoon
4. Running a new 5K race in the area this evening.
5. Watching the Olympics and relaxing.

When...

...is your AIDS ride?

How goes you preparation?

Bob1623 Be the Fountain, not the Drain.

The AIDS ride

is Aug 22 through Aug 26. Just a couple weeks away.

Preparations are going well. I have been riding a lot except for this week when my bike was in the shop. I will try to get one or two longer rides in yet and a also try to ride every day until the ride.

I ordered a couple new pairs of shorts too. Most of mine now were getting old and uncomfortable.

I am a little behind in my fundraising, so I need to put some work into that yet.

I feel I will be ready. And it is not a race, so if it takes all day to get from start to finish, that is fine with me. It will give me more time to appreciate this fine state of NY we will be riding through.

Thanks for asking F. I appreciate the interest.

It sounds like you're in good shape...

...both literally and figuratively.

New shorts are a good idea. I wore my old faithful bike shorts last year (read: with beat up padding) and had to stop to get some new shorts and a gel seat cover. Not to mention the discomfort.

That is the great thing to keep in mind about these rides is that you have all day. There is a tendency to want to get in early, but then you push so hard you can’t do much once there. It is a much better to enjoy the journey.

Good luck with your preparations!
