Red, White and Black week!

Celebrating 50 years of Independence, my country came alive this week! This week’s new and fulfilling were:

Wednesday – I’m in a video!!! The name of the song is “We Are (Trinidad and Tobago) featuring various artists! They asked for extras and we gathered in the Queen’s Park Savannah wearing red tops, formed a heart and had lit candles! I can’t wait for the release! It was great!

Thursday – Independence celebrations! Attended a re-enactment of our 1st Independence day! There were soldiers, sailors, actors representing the Queen’s niece, Dr. Eric Williams (our 1st Prime Minister) and other noted people. There was the raising and lowering of the English flag and then the raising of Trinidad and Tobago’s flag. We stood and sang our national anthem collectively at 12 midnight! It was an auspicious occasion! Felt like we were back in 1962! Also, I saw and heard the President and Prime Minister give their speeches live. Machael Montanto then brought down the house with a killer 2 hour performance! God, I love my country!

Friday – HAPPY INDEPENDENCE T&T! Oh man…I’ve been on a high! Went to the Oval for a spectacular cultural performance! Wonderful fireworks…great performances! Loved every minute of it!
