and I do reply, usually with questions about her to keep the conversatin going.

Problem is she replies back with short, terse responses. Nothing to build on or comment about. It feels like a oneway street.
im not looking for anything more than friendship really and I must confess Im pretty retarded when it comes to human interaction.

everytime she messages Im very thoughtful of what to say back, but I dont get much of a reaction from her.

Im slightly annoyed, who would start up a conversation without trying to take it further?
