is your picking related to breakouts? like, i know for me, i pick when i have a spot (any spot, i fixate on it). if you’re like me, i really suggest going to a dermatologist for an antibiotic, because i did and it reduced my spots like 90%. you don’t even need the retin-a part of the antibiotic-cream duo, which would make the script way less expensive. the dermatologist appt was $72 without insurance and the minocycline (the acne-fighting antibiotic) wasn’t too bad, either. i wish i had not put off seeing a dermatologist for years. i thought it’d be really expensive and they’d put me on accutane or something that i found very scary. but they didn’t. they put me on a low-level antibiotic and my skin improved dramatically in like two weeks.
i know that picking is mainly psychological, but i can’t even tell you how much better it feels to just NOT have something to pick, not to have something to psychologically fixate on. i mean, my skin is never/rarely 100% perfect now, but there’s usually only one small spot that i pick (if that—like now, my one spot is just healing), and the antibiotics also help it heal super quickly.
also vitamin-c helps with skin healing, you might try that. make sure you get enough vitamins too! vitamin d3, a good multi, fish oil… i think those helped me. also, i noticed that for me, avoiding bread/dairy/refined sugar helped a lot.
