All of my friends are mostly very good at skiing, and every year we go together.
Since I’m not so good at it, I rather go ice skating by myself – and that sucks (although I love skating). My friend told me he’ll teach me snowboarding and that it’s pretty easy, but I spoke to some other people who discouraged me with their stories about snowboarding experiences, being that they’re all good skiers and found it hard to learn.

Black and blue
I’ve never done snowboarding but all my friends who have told me the same thing: at first, you will probably fall a lot because the movement is unusual but it is definitely worth it! Especially if you have someone to teach you :-) As I understand it, the problem with good skiiers is that they are so used to skis, it takes them a long time to un-learn their ski reflexes when snowboarding.
Go for it!
Yeah, well I guess I’ll manage the falls somehow… Just a bit of enthusiasm and good will, and I’ll be speeding downhill like a professional in no time ;) (So I keep convincing myself ;)… But, I’m afraid I’ll be postponing this suicide plan for next winter. Ski tracks in Zagreb are just too crowded and the temperature keeps rising. Well, I’ll be patient – I’m more of a summer person anyway…
Good point
It’s better the first time to have good snow. Having ice patches and melted snow would be making it a bit too adventurous ;) In the meantime, you can take up surfing in the summer to get used to the position ;)
Surfing – that’s a good idea. You can’t go surfing in Croatia though – no big waves :)
