Fall in love (read all 12 entries…)
Fall in love (12)

Yes, I have been in love with the same guy for all this time.
Except he is now my best friend, partner in crime and just one of the most amazing people I have ever met.

My feelings for him are different but still quite intense. But I know he is not ready for any kind of relationship right now. Besides, I believe he knows too much about me and my troubles to try and get together. But that’s fine, I guess. I chose him as a friend and I could not have done anything for the last year without his support.

long time

between entries!

I wonder if he is waiting for you to make the first move romantically?

Doctors tend to be so enormously busy, I think it’s almost impossible for the average person to imagine what your lives are like. Perhaps there’s no time for romance. I wonder.

Have you completed your internship? Will you work in Paris permanently?

I know, lots of questions, but I did enjoy your posts back when you made time to write them.

Long time, indeed!

Thank you so much for your comment! :) It really encourages me to write more.
When I went back here, I went through my subscriptions and immediately remembered you.

This guy is not into relationships. At all. I guess you could say he is a player and sees me as his little sister. But like I said, I am the one who stuck myself in this position.

Besides, I just started something with someone new. Which was completely unexpected considering what my life has been like for the past 2 years.

Yes. Romance and medicine are hard to balance when your partner isn’t in the same field and doesn’t take the time to understand.

Well, I’m not even an intern yet. Med school in France is really different from what you see on TV shows ;-)
If all goes well, I’ll start my internship in november. How well I do in my finals will determine whether I can stay in Paris or not. So, a lot is at stake.

How have you been? After all this time … :)

I have been well

and not much has changed in my life in the last two years. I’m still happily married, have the same job as Technical Editor for a midsize corporation, live in the same house in the Midwest & still watch far too many movies & sporting events & television series. Still read the same sorts of things, mainly fiction, epic fantasy, memoir & young adult novels. Still dream of writing and publishing a novel or book of poems of my own. I’m 46 & pretty much settled & okay with that.

It’s good to be remembered! Thanks for that.

You, on the other hand, don’t appear to be close to settling down. Most every part of your life is in transition. You’re on your way to becoming a doctor & routinely saving people’s lives. On top of that, you’re a good writer with a gift for narration. No wonder you’ve been missed here. Your life is full of drama and suspense. And no wonder there are so many tv shows about interns and doctors’ lives.

Do you prefer Paris to any other place? Do you think you have a future with the new someone despite his lack of understanding?

By the way, the best U.S. tv show about a hospital was St. Elsewhere, from back in 1980s, in my opinion. Have you ever watched it? There must have been 7 or 8 seasons. Could be fun & relaxing in the little down time you have to get the dvds & watch them all in order.

I think there is nothing wrong with being settled down. Isn’t it what most of us aspire to, anyway?
I am glad you gave me some background to work with : makes it easier to follow what you have been up to lately ;-)

My last relationship was with an evil guy who did not want to understand what it is like to be a med student. And I Just started something with a 4th year student (and this is my 6th year).

Just like you, I still watch too many movies and tv shows. I keep track on that, though I don’t publish it in here (but should!).
I’ll be sure to check out St. Elsewhere because I have never heard of it! ;-)

I would definitely like to stay in Paris because I love my place and obviously, my friends and family. I still have 7 months before getting an intern job, which leaves me plenty of time to see where things are going with the (understanding and lovely guy).

Thank you for all your nice words :)
