I hate working in retail…let alone as a Customer Service Assistant!!!! I need to get out of it and work in an area I at least like. I thought I might be able to put up with it at least til i get through uni but now I don’t know that I can. I need something that I can enjoy a little bit that doesn’t have me dreading every minute because I find myself counting down how long til i start the next working day, even when im off work enjoying myself. Sounds pathetic but I HATE IT… however I’m a student and I need the money… and for a job it pays well, keeping the debts at bay. Any ideas?

any temp agencies near you?

I would look at some temporary agencies or employment agencies that would be able to find you something. It might still be in the customer service field if that’s where your experience is but I think it would be less awful than retail customer service. Your school may even be able to help you find something, perhaps working there as office help.

Do you have a budget? You might be able to get by on less than you think and get a less stressful job even if it pays a bit less. Jobs where you dread going and are counting the hours are not healthy and it’s best for you to get out of there any way you can.

Yeah, i might try it…Thanks for the ideas!!!!! In the summer I am going to look for a job that is more related to the industry that I desire to be in when I leave university… but…

I am actually finding my job is ok at the moment. It’s better than it has been… Maybe because I chose to make an effort to be more positive about it and to enjoy the things about it that I actually do like. Plus I got a pay rise, which always helps!

Two weeks now and I have come away every day of those weeks feeling like I was doing something right and feeling a little bit better about it all. I dont know. For now the money’s not bad and the upheaval of changing jobs probably wouldn’t be good during “term” time… sooooo basically I am waiting til the summer. Decide what I will do then… It’s only 3 months away YEY ME!

adding onto this.

I’m enjoying my job suddenly. Like every job, it has its moments where I question it and where it entirely does my head in but it keeps me entertained for the most part and it pays. I get to people watch and chat to people I wouldn’t normally talk to. It’s a varied environment… high spirited… and somehow fab.

New management at the moment are pretty good. Keep me laughing anddd I am more in control of what I do and don’t do.
