on earth do i make this happen???
seriously – how?
Unless you’ve got some serious pull with Homeland Security and/or the FAA, coupled with actually being related to a pilot, I’m afraid this may be impossible anymore. I was lucky enough as a kid to visit an airliner cockpit while in flight, but that was about 25 years ago. Best of luck, though!
well, at least the logical part of me knows you’re right. but i figure that i have decades to get this done. so perhaps, while i’m figuring out how to go about this i can start smaller… maybe find a friend of a friend of a friend with their pilot’s license… start with the small planes and then go from there.
is to go gliding! Here’s a great article about just that:

I’ve done this up in Arlington, and it’s a blast! I’m hooked. The only thing keeping me from doing this every weekend is the expense.
i’ve been thinking about this quite a bit lately. and my BIG idea is that maybe i should start smaller.
so my step one to this goal will be to be in the cockpit of a teeny tiny plane during take off. this might take a year or longer to unfold, but at least i’ll have a sense of progress.
baby steps, right? and who knows what it may lead to.
