Get a cool GPS navigation system in my car that has all the roads, forests and parks in the entire US
Garmin 2620

My car didn’t come with a built-in nav system so I bought the Garmin 2620. It has a built in muti-gig hard drive so you don’t need to download maps or connect anything to your computer—it’s all on there. It’s taken me across the country, down local roads, through national parks. Highly recommended.

maybe if i was rich....

wow…i just clicked on that link there and thought, “damn.” that’s, uh, kinda pricey. does it talk to you like the built-in ones do? i would think they all do since it’s dangerous to drive and read at the same time ;), but i don’t actually know…

It's all relative

It’s actually not expensive if you compare it to built in factory systems that are often $1500 or $2000 options.

And, yes, this talks to you and even has a remote control so someone in the back can control it if need be.

Well won’t an ordinary map do..? Or is it true that men cant read maps..? :)

Yes Maps are fine

But the problem with maps is that they do not tell you where you are and you have to keep flipping pages and finding out on your own where you are.

Teh purpose of a live navigation system is for the adventurer to constantly have a bearing on where he is.

For instance, say you’re on a Highway. Lots of traffic. An exit is coming. WEll, you’re not going to look at your physical map.. you’re too busy. But if you look at your Navigation map, you see where you are and you even see other roads you didn’t even know where there. Right then and there you make the decision to get of the highway and take the small country roads instead. No need to stop, no need to thumb through maps. None of that.

Navigation systems are for impulsive adventurers, or busy drivers (like Realtors looking for houses and stuff).

If you’re a super planner, not very spontaneous, and simply want to get from point A to point B, then it’s quite possible you simply do not see the value in a navigation system.

However, if you’re like me, and you’re like “hey I wonder where that road goes”, then this kind of thing is cool.
