"Fun Toastmasters" club

I went with my boss to her Toastmasters meeting today. I liked the group but I don’t think the meeting time will work for me over the long term.

I have visited two other clubs in the past few months: the Gopher Toastmasters downtown Minneapolis and the Speak Up and Out (GLBT) Toastmasters in St. Paul. I’d say Speak Up and Out is the frontrunner at this point.

They are a club that helps people learn to be better public speakers

There is a small annual fee to join, but then you are committed to attending regular meetings, giving a series of speeches, and receiving feedback and critique.

There are clubs all over the world and it has been around for ages. I think my grandfather was in Toastmasters. Maybe there is some newfangled way to learn public speaking that’s cheaper, faster, or better… but if there is, somebody please let me know about it!
