control my life, not let life control me
control 5 years ago

I realized recently, that my first 37 years of life, I have been out of control. Life just happened around me, and I adapted and lived in it (quite good, quite successful, quite satifying).

But now, in the second half of my lifetime, I want to take control. I have goals, that I want to reach. I will try to live my life in a way, that makes me reach those goals.

Strange timing, that 43 things has come out at just this precise moment in time

writing is key

I read a James Thurber quote recently that said, “I don’t know what I think until I read what I have to say”.

Writing down and thinking deeply about what you want to accomplish - be it with 43things or a pen and paper - is key to staying on track and having some measure of control over the course of your life. That’s not intended to sound preachy—just something I’ve noticed since we began devloping 43things about 6 months ago.

Congrats and good luck with your revelation. Rock on!

Control is a mirage. A myth. Control is an excercise of the narcisistic mind. To want control is folly, and to believe you have it is Hubris. Dont want anything. Relinquish attachment. Destroy your appetites.

Read Zen and the Birds of Appetite.
