Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

read the Bible daily (read all 10 entries…)
Hebrew 4:12

Hebrew 4:12-13
Indeed, the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.
No creature is concealed from him, but everything is naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must render an account.

Recently, I started to really realize how true it is, that the Bible is the true Living Word of God. For example, this one time when I felt down and I went to a prayer meeting, my friends read some verses from the Bible that really cut through my heart. Those verses gave me consolation and hope and I knew the verses were meant to me. I can just felt it deep down in my heart, penetrate my whole being. And I started to realize that the word of God is truly a sharp sword, cut through the heart and soul (Ephesians 6:17), and truly it’s alive.

Ephesians 6:17
And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

And it is really important to read daily since if we read Ephesians 6 about the armor of God, among all the protective gears: belt of truth, helmet of salvation, breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith, footgear of zeal, and sword of God, only the sword of God is the offensive gear here, the rest are defensive. If we imagine, we are fighting the kingdom of satan (imagine Lord of the Rings episode 3 when Aragorn and friends attacked Mordor), we have to be fully equipped, if we don’t have our sword or if our sword is blunt, it’s almost the same as killing youself.

So, I wrote this to give encouragement to all of us, including me, to keep reading the Bible daily, to strengthen us and give us consolation in the midst of trials and tribulations. Sometimes I think I should have read the Bible more often in the past, but oh well.. yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. May the Lord grant us the gift of perseverance to walk in His path and may we use the gift of today according to His will. Amen
