My migraines were nearly uncontrollable and unbearable from the age of 6 for several years. A rather unconventional physician put me on Dilantin, which was highly effective, but which also has a significant risk of disrupting neuron activity in the brain, so I had to have biannual EEGs. The hormonal changes of puberty seem to have put an end to my suffering by the age of 13 or slightly older (34 years ago). Good luck to all. I expect the pharmaceutical options are very much different now than they were decades ago.

Yikes!
Dilantin? You’re not still taking it are you? Dilantin has a serious, major risks, and while it cured the problem (and I know myself how important that is), I’m worried about those risks. There are so many other meds on the market now—I use blood pressure medicine as a preventative, and imitrex when one happens. Works like a charm!
