digitize my vinyl (read all 2 entries…)
The price we pay 3 years ago

I think it would have been cheaper to just buy new CDs of all the old Bill Cosby albums than digitize and edit them into individual sound bytes. Between this project and digitizing/ editing photos, I’ve given myself a great case of tendonitis in my elbow … so I’ll be delayed somewhat in finishing the project.

To be honest, much of what I want to digitize is not available anywhere on CD, or at least not that I’ve seen. I think I will give Amazon.com a quick check before I decide to do anymore!

For comedy, it's worth doing I think

I too have a ton of Cosby vinyl..as well as some Smothers Brothers/Steve Martin. Even though many of these are out on CD, buying them all again would run about $200. I can throw them into my PC, clean ‘em up and edit, and have a plenty “good enough” sound without shelling out the dough.

For music, I tend to think it’s worth paying the CD price though…unless it’s really crazy. (Some of my albums were available in limited runs but now you can only find them used and they reach prices of $60 and more! It’s just too much for 1 album..) For music, mostly I’ll digitize the vinyl that I simply can’t find on CD at all.
