eat everything on the BBC's 50 things (read all 2 entries…)
Hmm, how many of these items have I already eaten? 3 years ago

Here is the list:

1. Fresh fish – love it
2. Lobster – I prefer crawfish.
3. Steak
4. Thai food
5. Chinese food – chinky nosh :)
6. Ice cream
7. Pizza
8. Crab – Cromer crabs!!!
9. Curry – my favorite food
10. Prawns
11. Moreton Bay Bug – missed these
12. Clam chowder
13. Barbecues
14. Pancakes
15. Pasta
16. Mussels
17. Cheesecake
18. Lamb – Just say N.Z.
19. Cream tea – in Devon
20. Alligator – Lone Cabbage!
21. Oysters – Fresh from the ocean in OZ
22. Kangaroo – kangaroo tail soup
23. Chocolate
24. Sandwiches
25. Greek food
26. Burgers
27. Mexican food
28. Squid – done right, it’s wonderful.
29. American diner breakfast
30. Salmon – Scotland and Canada!
31. Venison – in N.Z.
32. Guinea pig – not yet
33. Shark – Love it.
34. Sushi
35. Paella
36. Barramundi – I tried this in Alice Springs – not a good idea.
37. Reindeer – Sweden
38. Kebab – except when it was horsemeat.
39. Scallops
40. Australian meat pie
41. Mango
42. Durian fruit – Tastes great, smells dreadful
43. Octopus – little ones and in sushi
44. Ribs
45. Roast beef
46. Tapas – not officially
47. Jerk chicken/pork – Louisiana!
48. Haggis – on a bicycle trip in Scotland
49. caviar – in Prague
50. cornish pasty – fast food style, not the real thing.

By my caluclations I only need to eat three items to finish this goal. Moreton bay bugs (lobster by another name), guinea pigs and tapas. Tapas would be easy enough to find. This list has a very British slant which is to be expected. Having BBQ and mexican food on it is probably novel to some extent to Brits but for a Californian, it’s not a big deal. Perhaps I should come up with my own version of 50 things to eat before you die? Ice cream would change to Green Tea ice cream. Pancakes would become Belgian waffle with strawberries. Ribs would be fried goat. Chinese food is too vague. I’ll have to think about what my list would have on it.

As a vegetarian, ahem, this is one list that I don’t have much interest in:]

But I am curious; what did you make of haggis?

[You can get vegetarian haggis these days:]

Sehnsucht

I had haggis while on a bicycle tour in Scotland. I’m not very fond of offal so I wasn’t really game to eat haggis but I had never tried it, so why not… I liked it though this one wasn’t cooked in stomach. Too be honest, vegetarian haggis would probably be more my style.

I'm curious

Will you ever eat number 32? :p

Hi myrrh garden

I would try guinea pig. I’d probably feel bad about eating it (like I did when I ate frog’s legs and rabbit) but I do like trying new and interesting foods. There are a few animals that I wouldn’t eat though.

I’ll let you know if I ever do try them.
