I did this in the early 1990’s with my then girlfriend. Warden on a 74 hectar island in the Seychelles called Aride for 13 months. No cars, no roads, no electricity or running water. Ate fish and rice and counted seabirds. What I can’t do with a coconut ain’t worth knowing. Marvelous.

Sounds intriguing
So how did you go from living such a life of leisure to having a mundane job that feels like groundhog’s day? Why not stay in Madagascar and enjoy playing with the lemurs?
Island life isn't everything
Sorry for not responding earlier.
The transition from Madagascar and tropical islands to groundhog day job (which it isn’t really) was easy. After all at the end of it I have ended up with a fantastic wife and two beautiful children and I live in a part of the country (Devon, UK) that is heavenly. I would never have been able to achieve this swinging in a hammock being bitten by mozzies.
I see from your site you got engaged and if you are now married I hope it is everything you could wish for. You husband is clearly a lucky man.
