Has anyone seen the story about the solar flares? 3 years ago

On CNN.com today, there is a story about how the next solar storm is going to be 30 to 50 percent stronger than the last one. How does it relate to northern lights?

“Solar storms, which eject billions of tons of plasma and charged particles into space, can produce dazzling northern lights, but also disrupt power lines, radio transmissions and satellite communication.”

The storm should start in late 2007.

I saw them once

when I was on Whidbey Island, up here in the pacific northwest.

Canada is good for seeing them, and of course Alaska.

I hope you get to see them, Chuq! :D

I do hope so too

Hopefully very soon. I have heard stories that the poles are switching so the Northern Lights might be visible from pretty much everywhere. That will of course be catastrophic for many things in the world, so hopefully I can see them before that happens.
