Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

knit enough pairs of socks so I can wear hand-knitted ones every day! (read all 9 entries…)
Pair #3

These poor socks took me nearly a year to complete. I’m glad they are finally done.

Did these two-at-a-time. I have to say it was nice not having to keep track of how many rounds I knitted on each part of the sock in order to make both the same size. And it is definitely nice to be done with both at the same time. That’s the definite advantage to knitting two-at-a-time.

Comments:

Alsandera misses "Member since: blah blah, 2008." Shoulda kept that account. lol

Is this the same Lion Brand pattern? I’m so frustrated with that site. I loved your socks and wanted to try that, but I only get a blank page when I try.

Andrea409 Find me on PopClogs!

Sure is.

Hmm, I’ve never had that problem on their site. I’ve made several of their patterns with no issues. I think this is a great basic pattern and have made a few pairs of these so far. My man loves them. If you want me to, I’ll be glad to send you the pattern. It’s free, so I wouldn’t be infringing on any copyright or moral issues. Just let me know!

Please!

I will then have two sock patterns that people promise me will work every time. I’m tempted to frog this sock I’m stuck on. I increased too many stitches and have some errors in it. Shows what I get for working on the increase away from the pattern. lol

Do you want me to send you my email address, or do you want to try putting it in messages here or Rav?

That's your call.

It doesn’t matter to me. I can do whatever you prefer. Just let me know!

Oh, I’m sorry to hear about your sock, but we have all been there, lol. If your poor sock is beyond salvage, a trip to frog pond may be what it needs. It sucks to watch all of those hours of work unravel, doesn’t it? But in the end, I’ve learned (repeatedly) that it’s better to have a finished product you like and will actually wear. Which pattern are you currently trying to make?

I'll message you

But yeah, I’m not happy with it, which I’m sure is why I can’t finish it.

It’s Wendy’s generic toe-up sock. I think she’s verypinkknits. Anyway, it’s just a basic pattern that I already didn’t like by the time I finished the toe. I’m not a fan of the boxed toe look.

I have other toes I like, though, and I can sub those in any time, so that’s not a big deal.

I just really need to find a worsted sock pattern and get one pair over with, then go back to the fingering.

Yeah… I’m just going to leave that as-is. You know what I mean. lol!

Oh, and I don’t usually have problems with the site – that’s where I got Z-bear’s hoodie pattern. It’s just that one pattern that I can’t see.

Thanks!

Oh, and thanks for the compliment on my socks! I think the pink looks too cute for words. Yeah, I said it; it’s true!
