We got layed off and I found myself with extra time to notice all the extra weight from long hours at the computer. We had just moved to the beach where we have an amazing paved strand and also about .5 miles inland, a great greenbelt path covered with tree chips: the “chip path.” I figured with time, motivation and opportunity, if I didn’t get more serious about running here, I was truly the laziest being on Earth. When my cholesterol count came in at 271, I started taking it even more seriously. I ran pretty much everyday. At first only a half mile, then a mile, then after a couple months I was running 3 or 4 miles a day.
