Fun: Patchwork Quilt
Godmother's patchwork quilt

I have a half finished patchwork quilt, which was my Godmother’s. I “inherited” (said “I” wanted it) when she died 18 years ago, and haven’t done anything with it yet :-(

I love this history in each quilt, the bits of material that remind you of someone, their dress, a cushion! #

I’ve got lots of material bits and pieces, and it all contains my history, so really want to include this!

grandmother's flower garden

Hi Helen,

This quilt pattern is appropriately called ’ grandmother’s flower garden’ and is an english style quilt pieced over papers. This means it has to be done by hand but the advantage is that you can do it in small bits nad carry them round for a moment of free time during the day. Why not ask friends and loved ones to send you a piece of cotton fabric which comes from soehting they have worn etc and then you cna incorporate many more happy memories in your quilt? I cna show you how to finish it when you want to, I have a similar quilt on my spare bed which comes from a dear friend who recently died.

Hello! Thanks for the advice

The photos isn’t of the quilt itself, but it’s certainly the style the quilt has been started in. The problem is that she’d stitched quite a lot together (a third / quarter of a single quilt?) and there’s probably enough made up pieces to make as much again. However, I want to incorporate my own material into it, and I don’t like the colour scheme she’s already started!
I need help! Maybe I’ll come and visit and bring it all with me – g ! I certainly need your help :-) HePx

Helen Palmer has gotten 2 cheers on this entry.
