go back to reading books that actually qualify as literature
i'm reading 3 years ago

Memoirs of a Geisha- does that count? i definitely wanted to read it first before seeing the movie. i’m almost done with it, but i have to admit i’m getting a little annoyed though. i can only take so many japanese names in at once without getting everyone all mixed up. and she’s gone on and on about how she’s been tortured in the geisha house. OK i get it- you’ve had a rough life. now can we move on with the plot, please?!

Memoirs Doesn't Count

Read something better… I was really angry when I finished Memoirs and realized how much time I wasted on a story that never really climaxed. And all those beautiful metaphors? They will get really, really annoying in another hundred pages.

Besides, as far as I’m concerned, it’s not literature if the author is still alive—not, of course, that the inverse is necessarily true.

yeah

it DID take a long time to read. there wasn’t really much action and the end was pretty predicatable.

now moving on to the next book… any suggestions?

I read Jame Fenimore Cooper’s “Last of the Mohicans” I give it a B+ I know it is a classic, but to me, it was more interesting to read it and think about the style of writing from that era, the story I found a bit too swashbuckling.
