You left when we needed you most.
I suppose you, better than anyone, saw the writing on the wall. You knew what was coming. You could see that the world is, indeed, crashing down around us.
As you once said, when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. Maybe you thought your career in professional weirdness was over and that it was time to step down, but we need you. You and your wit have forsaken us. I and many others wished to meet you, to stand in the presence of the legend.
If I could have heard some words of encouragement from you, I would never again doubt myself. It would be like Michelangelo or DaVinci encouraging a five-year-old finger painter to keep up the good work. A master telling an aspirant that he may someday hold the reigns.

Your wisdom will be missed until we meet again.
