Open a used bookstore (read all 2 entries…)
Could it work? 3 years ago

I am seriously considering doing this. In my mind I see it working out. A small used bookstore with a counter where you can buy smoothies and coffee. Little tables on one side for people to come in and sit and talk or to flip through books they might be interested in. On the other side of the store I see a quiet little nook with a comfortable sitting area. I plan to carry only higher quality used and hard to find books. Maybe an area with used CD’s and DVD’s. And an area large enough to clear room for an occasional writer or poet to come in and speak. Along with eventually I would like to offer bellydancing, yoga, and maybe even pole dancing lessons. I’m really looking for some opinions. Would you shop at a store like this? Would you want to spend time in a place like this where there was good music and a faint smell of nag champa wafting through the air? What about the bellydancing idea? Please any comments and opinions are really needed.

Wish you lived in FL

We could combine ideas and efforts! I have been collecting books forever in hopes that I could have a used books, coffee/tea shoppe. Youre on the right path. I would love to go to a place like you described.
We have a local Hookah bar here that has bellydancing on the weekends. You can order incredible Middle eastern food, watch bellydancers and enjoy a Hookah. Love it!

this would be cool

tell me more about this hookah bar. What do they smoke out of the hooka’s? I think it could work, I really do. Where in florida are you?

Hookahs

You smoke flavored tobacco in the hookahs-tobacco water pipes--they have delicious flavors like cherry, vanilla, pomegranante-you name it there’s a flavor for it. It’v very mild-not at all like cigarettes. You can put apple juice in place of the water in the hookah pipe—-I can not describe to you how awesome it is. And with the middle eastern food and belly dancers/music, pillows on the floor—you are transported to another place all together.http://www.bellydancewithk.com/schedule/index.htm (this is the “resident belly dancer)

and this is the restaurant: http://www.thecasbahcafe.com/ You can click on the photos and see exactly what a hookah is.

By the way, I am in Jacksonville, Fl.

We had a hookah once

In my younger years before we had children we owned a hookah. We only actually used it just a few times but I was shocked to hear they had hookah bars here in the united states as what we used it for was illegal. I wish that I lived in a bigger city. It makes me want to move to a bigger city. I am from a smaller farming community with a pop of about 30,000 people and I think I’m going to have a hard enough time getting them to come in and drink coffee. Maybe I should consider moving to a larger area where I can be more creative.

Sounds very good idea
Yes I would really enjoy to shop there
