Ohmygosh. Four years for me too. And you know what? It’s just not a once-off process… it comes up again and again and again.
It’s pathetic, it’s true, but it just means that you’ve got this huge reservoir for the the one that really matters. :)
you are the one that matters
So it took me about 2-3 yrs to get over my ex. we’d been together for about 6 yrs off&on. I had to realize that the relationship wasnt good for me or healthy, so I moved to another state and didnt give him my number…i cut off all ties. I made new friends, got a job, and started going out to get my mind off of the situation. It takes time, but i would say that we are creatures of habit. We get used to a person, even if it doesnt always feel great. Sometimes we’re just afraid of being alone. So in terms of having a huge reservoir for the one that matters…you are right, because YOU are the one who matters. you have to take care of yourself, physically, emotionally and spiritually FIRST.
The one who really matters doesn’t hurt you or make you cry or make you wait for them. You are the one who truly mattes.
Des is still alive but has no joy to share

It took me 5 years and a few months. I think I’m mostly there now, though.
