brew my own beer (read all 3 entries…)
Santa was good to me.

Lakeview Valley Farms Make Your own Beer kit was under the tree. Seems like it will take about one month to brew it. Have not yet decided when to start, but perhaps on a snowed in day (if that occurrs).

The price tag says $30 and I should be able to make a case of pilsner or amber beer. Not sure what case they mean as they provided 6 plastic beer-like bottles in the kit. (Followup – they presume you will make several batches with the ingrediants.)

instructions

I have the kit as well however I lost my instructions or rather they were destroyed by some wrotting potatoe’s. I was wondering if you could let me know what the first 2 sentences of page 4 say and the first 4 sentences of page 5 say?

This could help me out greatly.

First two lines..

p.4

In a large enamel or stainless steel pot, place 3 quarts (2.839 liters) of bottles or filtered water. Place on you stovetop and bring almost to a boil.

p.5

Using a sterile funnel, carefully pour the cooled wort into the cubitainer, leaving behind any sediment, which settled out of the wort (If you put apiece of cheesecloth in the funnel, this will trap any unwanted particles) Add 2 cups (480 ml) of room temperature bottled or filtered water to the cubitainer.

Perhaps we can do it together and compare notes. When do you plan to start?

thanks a bunch

Well since I’ve had mine over the past year and never started it I just recently (Monday) decided to sterilize everything that came with the kit, I guess thats the first step. I’m probably going to start it tonight (Friday) and if I dont I may start it Saturday. If you dont have any time on either of these days let me know and I’ll hold off. Believe me you have to find some kind of motivation to do it or it wont ever get done. after the year I’ve had enough of seeing it sit at the bottom of my pantry.

Like the plane

Motivation. I received a small plane about 15 years ago that’s begging to actually get off the ground.

But beer is more important. So it’s been just over a month and I’m red2go at about 7 PM. What time zone are you in?

I figure two months we should have beer.
