Whats your take on reservation in India?

Im sure u’ve heard about the bill thats gonna be presented to Parliament that when passed, will practically put the general category in the minority. In all the IIMs, IITs, JNU and all govt institutes, there will be 50% reservation.
EEeks! I think this is not a good time to start a university.

What a Shame !!

Even after more than 55 years of independence, we are still observing reservations and amazingly govt. is increasing this practice instead of just removing that.

After so long when we shud not heard the terms like minority catg., govt. is playing with the common people, just for its profit.

Instead of wasting time on this type of bill, Govt. Shud think on the ways of powering all people in primary education so that they can compete for higher qualifications without compromising the quality.

Is reservation the answer?

The people who really need help with their lives are not all necessarily SC/ST. The reservation bill will only widen the gap between the people who require the governments help and those who use reservation to get into some of the best schools in the country.
This kind of back-door entry will not only defeat the whole idea of having premier educational institutes, but also create professionals who are not competent enough.
When we provide reserved seats for the backward castes, we are only propagating the mistake that our fore-fathers made in enslaving them. Today, we, the so-called upper castes, are paying for mistakes that we did not commit.
I acknowledge that there is a large section of the Indian population that requires educational assistance, but are these people really getting the help that the need? What meaning does reservation have to a man who is illiterate? What importance does the number of seats reserved in JNU or IIM-A have for children who are unable to go to school?
The truth of the matter is that there is significant number of people who are classified as SC/ST/OBC, but have progressed so far that they are now rich enough to sponsor their childrens’ education in a foreign country. Why should such people still avail of the benefits of reservation?
By reserving seats for the backward castes, we are only continuing to live with the idea that created the caste system. We are giving it life, we are crediting it with importance.
