Most of the times, even if things go “horribly wrong” no-one is going to die, you are not going to starve, or even end up homeless.

Modern life in Western world is mostly filled with fear that has nothing to do with our survival. I guess most of the time the world is so safe we feel a need of be disproportionately afraid of things that wouldn’t concern us so nearly at all if we were running out of food or being prey for tigers.
