Go to more Good Pub Guide pubs (read all 3 entries…)
Two in one weekend 3 years ago

Did a weekend trip to the Cotswolds and Chilterns over Easter for some fresh air and countryside, and popped into a couple of nice foodie pubs while we were there. On Saturday, we went to the Kings Head, a small, quiet little dining pub in Wootton, which does absolutely fantastic food: I had a delcious warm duck breast followed by pork medallions and then cheese, and the pigeon breast and lamb shanks also looked great. Best of all, it has chintzy sofas you can sink into before and after your meal. The next day, after a walk around the bizarre Chilterns Sculpture Trail, we went for Sunday lunch at the Fox & Hounds on Christmas Common, which has an absolutely tiny bar where the staff constantly trip over each other, but does a great pork roast with crunchy crackling.

Memo to self: must do more trips to the countryside.
