lesleyegg is eating a strange fruit diet

see a play at the Globe Theatre (read all 5 entries…)

There are 4 plays on  — 2 years ago

this summer. Coriolanus opens first, with Jonathan Cake (v handsome actor). Then Titus Andronicus with Douglas Hodge (great actor but bloody play, ie, violent). Then Antony and Cleopatra with Frances Barber. Great play but I can’t bear the way she speaks. Then the Comedy of Errors (late July).

If anybody can advise me on the three plays I don’t know (I know Antony and Cleopatra) I’d be very grateful.

Comments:

bostonian71 is looking forward to a couple of days away from the day job.

I’m not familiar with Titus or Coriolanus, but I like Comedy of Errors. Mistaken identities, slapstick, and a happy ending—how could you go wrong?

Thanks

Thants very positive and it might be best to wait til July then.

I’m a bit tempted to brave the blood-and-guts of Titus Andronicus: I think I’ll read the play.
