Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

donate my hair to an institution that helps cancer patients
Locks of Love doesn't accept grey hair. So...

Where do I donate it?
Is anyone aware that adults get cancer too??? I’ve been looking for a while now & can’t find a place that takes grey/colored hair.
Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted! I’ll give it to an individual & htey can have thier own wig made…. that’d be great!! Know anyone who wants it?

My husband also has long grey hair and wishes to cut it and donate it to make a wig for someone who has lost his/her hair to cancer therapy. Not only children feel bad about the loss of their hair. I too would like to know where we can send his hair when he gets it cut so it doesn’t just get thrown in the trash.

I want to donate my gray hair, too!

I’ve been searching hi and lo for somewhere to donate my long gray hair to adult cancer victims. Very difficult! I am currently checking out The Canadian Cancer Society. From what I understand their wigs go to Canadians and Americans and maybe others. I personally don’t care who it goes to so long as its an adult cancer victim.

Check the website out and see if you can come up with something. Its the best I’ve seen so far.
Good luck!

try this place

Locks of Love

I wrote to them because I, too, have gray hair I’d like to donate. Although they can’t use it for their wigs because of the way gray hair dyes differently than non gray hair, they responded that they would be able to sell it and use the money for their organization. Being a nonprofit organization, they were unable to provide a name of an organization that will take it, but as long as it will go to good use, I don’t care.

Pantene Beautiful Lengths

Check out this website. This is where I’m sending my gray hair.

Dont' do it

They don’t take grey or colored hair. I checked the program out earlier this summer. They’ll throw it away.
Quote from thier site:
  1. Hair can be colored with vegetable dyes, rinses and semi-permanent dyes.
  2. Hair cannot have more than a few strands of gray hair.

I’m not going to dye my hair (& expsoe myself to the chems involved… my mother died of brain cancer from the chems) to donate it. They refuese to color it themselves. I’d think they’d love grey hairthat could be colored for the person who gets the wig. they said they wouldn’t accept it. I did finally find a patient at a cancer center who wanted it. She had it dyed to her hair color & had a wig made.

That’s what I thought, too. However, I called them today and they said that they take gray hair now. Hope they weren’t yankin’ my chain.
Thanx for the response. Maybe I better check it out further.

Taht would be nice! I had a long email conversation w/ them. I asked them why they didn’t let the reciever choose what color to dye, as the person I ended up giving it to did. They had no answer.
Maybe I MADE A DIFFERENCE!!! Maybe they actually listened to me & changed their policy!

I found a place that does adult wigs

Im sure if you contact this place im sure you can find out how to donate caus they help low income adults and children as well.

Donate Gray Hair!

I found a general fund that needs donations of money and gray hair for wigs for people with hair loss due to medical conditions including cancer. It is the Silver Generation of
Here’s the URL:

I can’t vouch for the organization except to say that they were very responsive to my inquiry and that they described this as an ongoing fund to donate free naturally gray human hair wigs to people with medically related hair loss.

allmuxedup has gotten 2 cheers on this entry.
