unplug from the internet for 1 year
Is this possible?

Is there such possible thing as quitting on the Internet? I don’t know, these days you’re so dependant on it for many reasons, it actually makes the world feel smaller in part.

I guess the only way you can really unplug yourself from the Internet is to start slow… Off with IM and chat, then start invetigating more at local libraries, meet and talk with people in the real life, not virtual life.

Heh, so I see it a bit difficult, but I’m gonna give it a try; either way, it’s not like it’s going anywhere right?

note to self...

I did it, first step of unplugging from the Internet: I closed my MSN account.

why would you?

I think this is just nonsense, to obstain yourself from that what’s good and easy is silly. The real culprit is to find a way to be and have both an online life and contacts outside etc. So what we really want is to combine the two better than we do now.

Good point...

At this point I’m just doing it for the motivation of leading myself to doing other things besides the usual routine (Hell, working in telecommunications can make you become one Internet junkie); all I’m saying is that I’m trying to focus the Internet as a tool to aid my regular social/professional life, and trying not to make it an indispensable part of my life.

The Blog thingie was just to fool around with my motives ;-)

I think it's a great idea

Life used to be so simple. When you got your food from your garden in your backyard, sewed your own quilts and clothes to keep warm. The world was so much bigger and less discovered. What are we going to be able to talk about to our kids about the ‘good ole days’? “When I was your age (for me, age 6) we didn’t have the computer we had to go to the library unstead and the world hadn’t figured out a way to produce and pollute faster and faster and faster.” I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather here about, ‘when I was your age, I had to walk 30 miles to school in 5 feet of snow.”
