I would like to share with you some special stories of wounded American heroes who have returned from war as very different people with life changing injuries.

A U.S. Marine from Arizona, Nels, lost part of his left hand and received other serious injuries on his body while serving in Iraq. Nels and his fiance quickly found that returning injured from war is not only emotionally and physically straining on a family, but financially as well. In order to spend time with and help care for Nels in the military hospital, his fiance had to quit her job to travel between Arizona and California.

Bills quickly piled up and a significant strain was placed on the young couple. Salute America’s Heroes helped Nels pay off his bills and we found an affordable, temporary home until Nels’ surgeries are completed and he is released from the hospital. Although we have been able to help many wounded heroes like Nels, there are many more that desperately need our help and we do not have the funding we need.

Robert from Kentucky was seriously injured when his vehicle was destroyed by an improvised explosive device in Iraq . He sustained shrapnel to his knees, significant hearing loss from ruptured eardrums, vision loss and post traumatic stress disorder. Robert’s wife is pregnant with twins who are due in August and has not been able to work because of her health and in order to care for Robert. This young family desperately needs a car to go to doctor’s appointments and they are behind paying their rent. Right now, Salute America’s Heroes cannot help Robert’s family because we do not have the funding required. That’s why we need your help today.

There are many more families like this who are severely injured and need help in order to survive. The men and women of our military have sacrificed for our country, now we must help them. The Coalition to Salute America ’s Heroes is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting wounded servicemen and women. We exist solely on donations from patriotic Americans like you.
