It was not as hard as expected to reach this goal because ever since as a child I liked water.
I know that it might sound strange. How can you like something with no taste? Well, not having a taste does not make water distasteful. Nevertheless, it does not make it delicious too :) Probably the best thing about drinking water is the refreshing feeling after drinking it.
The first thing a water-drinker should do is to reduce (ideally stop) the consumption of caffeine-rich drinks. Everybody knows they are really bad for your body, alas so many people are addicted to them. I am not a coffee drinker, however I was drinking Coke and Pepsi on a regular basis. Now I drink them very seldom.
Starting to drink more water should be done gradually. First after every meal – I think that is when your body needs it most. Then also in-between meals.
One of the side effects is that the visits to the toilet will increase, but that also might have good side effects if it will break a stressful routine. Especially for people who do a lot of office/computer work taking breaks on a regular basis is very benefic.
So, start it slow and gradually drink more-and-more. After a while your body will start thanking you for it!
